In Summer 2016, the Ark Encounter theme park opened its doors to the public. Along with additional outdoor activities and family entertainment, the main attraction is a full-scale replica of Noah’s Ark, filled with multiple levels of exhibits. On the second and third decks of the Ark, visitors can view the entertaining, award-winning films The Noah Interview and As in the Days of Noah.
The Noah Interview features Noah himself as he is interviewed by a hostile team of prehistoric tabloid reporters. The situation is comical and includes plenty of chaotic interruptions to the interview as Noah explains the project, but it also conveys the seriousness of the story and prepares the audience to enter the pre-Flood world.
Creative direction for Noah’s pre-Flood world of Noah required both physical and virtual set design. GP worked with the artists at the Ark Encounter to ensure continuity between the film and the theme park for sets, props, wardrobe, hair and makeup. Supported by a custom score, the entire soundscape for this green-screen production was designed from scratch, creating a realistic sonic atmosphere while setting just the right tone for the piece.
For this film, a modern-day crew of tabloid journalists visit the Ark Encounter in Kentucky to film a hit piece. There they meet the fictional Ark Encounter director, Noah Zomarsh, who answers their skeptical questions.
The cast for this film should look familiar – they’re the same actors who played the pre-Flood roles in The Noah Interview. Evangelist Ray Comfort also makes a cameo holographic appearance. Viewers learn that our modern world isn't all that different from the world in the days of Noah.
The Ark Encounter is associated with Answers in Genesis and The Creation Museum. June 2017 marked the 10th Anniversary of the opening of the Creation Museum, where more than forty Grooters Productions films still play. Attendance at the Creation Museum is at an all-time high.
